Income Tax Refund - Cyber Fraud

Received such tax refund message?

Beaware! This is a fake message.

This is new phishing scam in the name of an ‘income tax refund’ message is doing the rounds. As the income tax return (ITR) filing July deadline ended, scamsters are trying to trap people with fake income tax refund messages.

The Income Tax Department will never send you an email requesting you to confirm your bank account information or to click on a link to change your information. Do not click on any links or disclose any personal information if you receive a message like this.

The income tax refunds are sent directly to the pre-validated bank accounts provided by taxpayers at the time of filing returns
